Mathias Jorgensen
FC Copenhagen
Denmark
23rd April 1990 (18 years old)

Danish youngster is a reported target for Rafael Benitez according to Setanta Sports, who have quoted Jakob Friis-Hansen, who is poised to be appointed a Reds scout, as saying that the player is wanted by the Spaniard.

Jorgensen joined Copenhagen from neighbours B93, where he had already made first-team appearances. He signed a three-year deal with them on 26th June 2007. After training with both Arsenal and Newcastle United, he rejected a move to the Premiership after receiving a firm offer from the Gunners.

In July 2007, he suffered a strained inner ligament in his left-knee during a reserve game for his new side, FC Copenhagen. He managed to recover in less than two months and was back in reserve action in September of that year and went on to make his debut in a cup tie against FC Fredericia. He was a late substitute in the 3-1 victory. Three days later he made his league debut as a substitute.

The youngster has a good reputation amongst European youth scouts and is tipped for a move to a top club sooner rather than later.
