Rafael Benitez is being linked with a move for Mallorca’s Juan Arango in the Spanish media today.

The 29-year-old Venezuelan international is reportedly being tracked by various English clubs such as Spurs, Arsenal and Aston Villa and looks set to finally complete a long protracted move to the Premier League.

The left-winger has been at Mallorca for the past five years and has his eye on a money-spinning move to an English club.

Arango’s career began at Caracas prior to moving to Mexico to play for Monterrey, Pachuca and Puebla before switching to Spain in 2004.

He is a megastar in his homeland and has played 81 times for Venezuala and has scored seventeen goals. He is the fifth most capped international in his country and is also their current captain.

Arango would not require a work permit thanks to his time spent in Spain, which has qualified him for a European passport.

“Liverpool are a team of champions and I ask myself what footballer wouldn’t be pleased to play for that club – one of the greatest clubs in the world?”

Arango faces stern competition for a move to Anfield from David Silva as well as Middlesbrough’s Stewart Downing. And at 29 years of age, he may have missed his opportunity to make the biggest move of his career.
