The agent of Valencia winger David Silva has confirmed that several clubs have made calls regarding the availability of his client this Summer.

Rafael Benitez publicly withdrew his interest in the Spaniard in March after Valencia ‘leaked’ the negotiations in a bid to open a bidding war with other interested parties.

Silva is attracting interest from all over Europe and has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months.

Reports today claim that Benitez has made a final offer of £15m for the 23 year old and Silva’s agent, Jose Segui, admits there is interest in the Euro 2008 winner.

“At this time it is normal there are many stories in the papers about transfers, but the decision depends on Valencia,” Segui told Sky Sports.

“It is certain that some clubs have asked about the boy, but he has a deal with Valencia and he is happy in the city.”

Benitez, a former Valencia boss, was visibly annoyed by Valencia’s conduct when negotiations became public in March, but has held a long-term interest in the player.

“Our chief scout was in Valencia and talked with different people from the club but someone was talking too much. If we are going to look for someone we will not announce it to everyone – we will try to do it properly and secretly.” he said in March.

Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez, who admitted that Silva and David Villa might have to be sold to help clear club debts of around £400m, insisted no decisions would be made until the end of the season with the Mestalla based club in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

“Now it is impossible to negotiate anything because the future of the team in qualifying for Europe is not decided and that is key for the budget next season,” he said.
