Club signs sponsorship deal by lfctalk

It has been reported today that Liverpool have extended the sponsorship agreement with financial services company Bank of America.

The new four-year deal is reportedly worth £5m and allows the US bank to use the club’s crest and image in it’s marketing as well as access to corporate seats at Anfield.

The club is also reportedly on the verge of signing a number of additional sponsorship deals with companies in the automotive, consumer electronics and gaming sectors.

The shirt sponsorship agreement with Carlsberg, worth around £7.5m a season, expires at the end of the 2009/2010 campaign.

Bank of America, which suffered a blow this week when Standard & Poor’s cut its credit rating this week because of concern over future earnings, owns MBNA which makes Liverpool branded credit cards.

Commercial director Ian Aye also announced today (March 5) that the club will play in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong at the end of the current season.

Bloomberg quotes Ayre as saying: “If you are going to build a business overseas a key part is to allow people to touch and feel the product on a regular basis.”
