Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is adamant that his team has the strength and ability to knock Liverpool out of the Champions League this season.
“The match against Liverpool will be sensational because there will be two of the best teams in the world on show. This round will not be easy,” Ramos told skysports.com.
“I am always optimistic and I believe that, with much effort and hard work during the two matches, Real Madrid are the favourites to go through.”
“The presence of so many Spaniards at Liverpool means we can avoid any surprises as each team knows the characteristics of the other.”
“The key to the match, though, is our team. If we are able to play like we have been doing in recent weeks, then victory should be ours.”
“A good score? It will be difficult, but a 2-0 lead would put us in excellent shape heading to Anfield.”
“We have been preparing for this game for so long and it will seem like a final. We desperately want to go far in the Champions League and a first leg lead could be crucial.”
“People keep talking about how Liverpool’s attack is so good, but we are powerful too. (Arjen) Robben, (Gonzalo) Higuain and Raul are as good as anything Liverpool have got.”
“The key then this Wednesday will be to pressure the Reds from the off and not to make any mistakes defensively.”
