Despite controlling the game and having the lion’s share of the chances, Liverpool have so far failed to make the breakthrough in a must-win encounter.

Robinho has looked tricky for City, with Stephen Ireland providing their best outlet so far. While Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun spurned good chances to see Liverpool into a half-time lead.

Rafael Benitez will know that this is a game his side need to win, but his bench seems short on matchwinners that could potentially win this game. Fernando Torres has even more pressure on his shoulders to make something happen in the second 45.
