French youngster David N’Gog has spoken at his excitement at being given a regular role in the reserves side.

He told LFC Magazine: “I have been training quite well I think and taking some chances, but it’s not the real thing.

“Defenders do not, and will not, put you under the same type of pressure in training games as in a real game situation. They do not make the last-ditch tackle or put themselves on the line.”

“So when you score goals at Melwood it’s good, but you cannot read too much into it.”

“That’s why it’s good for me to play in the reserve team and take the chance to score goals.”

Despite this, N’Gog wants to push for more first-team action in the coming months.

“I hope, maybe, that I have showed I am hungry and available for the manager,” he said. “I must be focused and grasp every opportunity I can to impress.”

“If that is in the first team, training or reserves, I must always be ready.”
