The Daily Mail are Barcelona are lining up a summer swoop for Fernando Torres.

The La Liga leaders have placed the striker at the top of their hitlist as a potential replacement for either Samuel Eto’o or Thierry Henry.

Henry will be 32 this Summer, while they are yet to open contract talks with Eto’o whose contract expires in 2010.

Txiki Begiristain and manager Josep Guardiola are scheduled to meet to discuss new additions for next season in the coming weeks, and each strongly admires Torres.

Joan Laporta, the current Barcelona president, met Torres at the recent FIFA World Player event.

It was an informal chat with Barcelona players Lionel Messi and Xavi also present but it was seen as an important meeting as a basis for any future negotiations.

Inter Milan are said to be ready to pounce for Eto’o and there’d be no shortage of Premiership sides ready to move for Henry.

Barcelona are said to be encouraged by Liverpool’s financial position.
