Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia were among the 2000+ that watched on as Liverpool’s youth side ensured a double over Chelsea at Anfield in a week in the FA Youth Cup.

17 year old David Amoo headed in the 17th minute from Adam Pepper’s cross in the first half to put the Reds into a lead that was never levelled by their visitors.

It wasn’t the only chance The Reds had to bulge the Chelsea net – Nathan Eccleston’s shot flew wide after a fine pass from Paul Ince’s son Thomas, Lauri Dalle Valle’s fine strike was ruled out for offside and Amoo had another excellent chance that flashed wide in the closing stages.

Fabio Borini could’ve levelled it for the Londoners, but his header dropped onto the top of Dean Bouzanis’s net in the 79th minute as the Reds closed out the game to progress to the quarter finals.

Liverpool: Bouzanis, Wisdom, Buchtmann, Ayala, Kennedy, Irwin, Amoo, Pepper (Kacaniklic 73), Dalle Valle, Ince, Eccleston. Unused subs: Chamberlin, Metcalf, Roberts, Ellison.
