Steven Gerrard has stated his desire to knock Everton out of the FA Cup tonight at Goodison Park as he and his side prepare to face their local rivals for the fourth time this season.

“Games don’t come much bigger than this – playing against your local rivals in the FA Cup. We know Everton will be just as hard to beat as they were when we played at Anfield.”

“I’ve been fortunate enough to score a couple of goals against Everton in the last two derbies, but it doesn’t matter who scores as long as we go through.”

“The important thing now is for us to take the momentum and the confidence into the next game – obviously starting with the game against Everton at Goodison where we want to try and get into the last 16 of the cup.”

“That’s all that matters in the cup. It’s not about who does or doesn’t score – it’s all about winning the game.”
