The Daily Mail is reporting that Spurs have given up on their attempt to take Robbie Keane back to White Hart Lane.

The Independent claim that Liverpool have asked for the return of the £20.3m they paid for Keane last Summer, and Spurs have baulked at that demand.

Sources claim that Spurs have looked at various ways of securing Keane’s signature, including swap deals involving either Aaron Lennon or Jemaine Jenas and the cancellation of the outstanding £11m that Liverpool still owe on the original move.

Daniel Levy is reported to have ended the proposed deal after hearing that Liverpool only want a straight cash deal.

Keane himself is said to want to remain at Anfield to prove himself at his boyhood club and not see a dream turn into a nightmare.
