Could Keane have sealed his own fate? by lfctalk

After being completely dropped from the squad for yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Everton, Robbie Keane could’ve helped number his days at Anfield by failing to even turn up for the match.

Rafael Benitez has continually appeared to have made his mind up that signing the forward was an error on his part. The ex-Spurs frontman has continually been dropped or substituted this season after almost every anonymous appearance in the Red shirt. Aside from a brief purple-patch against Arsenal and Bolton in December, after which he was dropped yet again, the Irishman has failed to find the net with any consistency.

It appears Keane’s non-effectual appearance against Everton six days earlier sealed his fate for the second Mersey derby in a week.

When explaining his decision to drop Keane, Benitez said: “I decided not to select him. That was all.”

Could this latest public damning of Keane be an indication that Benitez is set to try and end the Irishman’s Anfield career already or will the striker hold on until the Summer?
