His current side will face the Spanish club in this season’s Champions League group stage and Reina has admitted that he is impressed with their progress.

He added: “They are going to be very hard to beat.”

Reina, who was speaking to the Spanish media ahead of his nation’s clash with Serbia, admitted that he recommeded Santi Cazorla of Villarreal to Rafael Benitez has a potential signing.

“Cazorla is a player I like a lot,” he said. “I asked my directors to buy him, but this couldn’t happen.”
