The People are claiming that Roy Hodgson is still interested in signing West Ham’s Carlton Cole and is also eyeing up a move for ex-Manchester United striker Diego Forlan.
The reports claims that Hodgson has earmarked £30m for a double swoop in January’s mid-season transfer window on the two frontmen to add support for Fernando Torres upfront.
Carlton Cole came close to joining Liverpool in the Summer, but a deadline day swoop was put off due to tight deadlines and West Ham being unwilling to budge on a price with no replacement lined up. The England striker has struggled to fit into Avram Grant’s teams this season as the Hammers prop up the table.
Forlan has been in exceptional goalscoring form since leaving United for Spain and continued his La Liga form into the World Cup, where he almost single-handedly took Uruguay to the final.
